Cenote Chikin Ha
Cenote Chikin Ha gives us two great dives past massive white boulders for when the cave roof collapsed, creating the cenote we now love.
During the dive experience the stunning visual effects of the halocline, the point at which the salt and freshwater meet. You can feel as if you passed into another realm seeing the simmering ceiling of fresh water above you. The waters do not readily mix and as you disturb them watch your vision distort.
We dive through a tunnel to Cenote Arcoiris which means “rainbow”. Once we arrive at Arcoiris look up and you can easily see how the cenote got its name.
Chikin Ha is part of a well maintained natural park containing three cenotes, Chikin Ha, Rainbow and X’tabay it is a great place for your non diving family and friend to hang out.
Diving this cenote
This cenote with its two routes is a great day trip for scuba divers. You can even bring along non diving friends or family, to enjoy great snorkeling.
As with most cenote tours we will meet around 8am at the dive shop to sort out scuba gear and paperwork, before heading off for our dives. Lunch is also included.
We suggest you bring a towel and a dry set of clothes. Keep in mind as in all cenotes sunscreen cosmetics and insect repellent are banned due to the conservation of the site.
